The LMDSRO weather station data is updated every 5 minutes, we are using a Davis Weather Monitor II Station fully equiped to monitor external and internal conditions.

The Weather is of course a major concern to Optical Astronomers, you can't view through a Telescope or conduct Astrophotography if you have a cloudy sky, Phil Hart - ASV's Resident Astrophotographer and Section Director has made available at his Website - Cloud Forecasts for Australian Astronomers a fascinating insight into the way the Bureau of Meteorology uses Computer Modeling to determine cloud conditions, while at Phil's website explore his Astrophotography and particularly his Time Elapse work, The Dish footage is one example worth viewing.

As with normal Bureau of Meteorology procedure the Rain Gauge is reset to 0mm at 9am every morning, however if there is anything in the daily gauge it then gets added to the Yearly Total gauge which was set to 0 mm as of the 14 Nov 2009 when comissioned, since then and up to the 1/1/2012 over 2 meters of rain has fallen at LMRO, the Rain Gauge Yearly Total has now been reset to 0mm as of the 1/1/2012

Daylight Saving has recommenced in Victoria moving an hour foward and will end Sunday 1 April 2012.
