Photos from the Radio Observatory

In this photo you can see the 21MHz Jovian antenna support poles to the left. The observatory building is on the right with the Internet satellite dish.

From the side of the building you get a better view of the satellite dish and the weather station mast supporting the instruments.

Inside the building is the Science Desk with Weather Computer and Jovian Computer running Skypipe. On the top shelf is the Jovian 21MHz receiver, power supply and monitor speaker.

The Beginning of making a Faraday Cage EMI environment for LMRO. Most Shipping Containers have a wooden floor, here we are placing Sheet Metal down electrically bonding with the outer wall of the Container

To create a proper "RF Lock" all Sheet Metal is overlaped by about 30mm then screwed down using Alloy strips.

Once the Floor was done a raised "floating" floor is made to which a inner lining of Sheet Metal will be applied to created the floor of the inner Faraday Cage.

Floating Floor Sheilding in place, next the walls!.

The right side wall sheilding in place, Alloy strips still to be fitted, all sheets are overlaping in a convention that creates a proper RF Lock.

Due to the design of the Container we had to create a Metal Box that could be fitted in the two upper left and right corners to go over the outer corner bulk heads, this required "3 Dimensional thinking".

Here the Metal Box Sheild is fitted to the upper rear corners.

Here are Alloy strips being screwed in place, all corners are fitted first with Aluminium Angle with the Sheet Metal fitted over the top followed by the strips. More pictures to come...Clint 5/10/11

This is our demo 1.4GHz 8 Footer Horn.

Another view of the Horn, at this stage the monopole is yet to be fitted.

Here is a shot of the very well designed support for the Horn giving it full 360 degree rotation and 0 to 90 degree elevation.

Looking down into the 8 foot 1.4GHz Horn.
